WHAT ARE THE TIMINGS FOR THE TRIP?

We meet at the pier at 08:30, at the latest, departing at 08:45. The trip is approximately 1 hour each way. We arrive back to Castlebay around 3pm. Timings may change due to weather or tides, please plan for this accordingly we are not responsible for any missed ferry connections etc.

 

CAN I TAKE MY DOG/S?

No, dogs are not permitted on our trips.  There are people on the island that will dog sit.  Contact visitor information for more information (01871 817948).

 

WHERE DO WE LEAVE FROM?

We leave from Castlebay Pier by the Calmac Office.

IS THERE A MINIMUM OR MAXIMUM AGE TO GO ON THE TRIP?

The lower age limit is 5 years old. We do not have a maximum age but there is a certain level of fitness required to join this trip. Upon arrival to Mingulay we must transfer into a tender which takes you to the rocks. Passengers then must step onto the rocks, which can be slippy, and climb a steep incline to the grassy area. There is no pier on Mingulay.

HOW LONG IS THE TRIP?

The trip is approximately 6 hours with 3 hours ashore on Mingulay, depending on the weather.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO TRAVEL TO MINGULAY AND HOW DO I PAY?

The cost of a day trip to Mingulay is £70. Payment is cash before boarding the boat. Price is per seat and there are no discounts for concessions.

WHAT ARE THE REASONS A TRIP MAY BE CANCELLED?

  • Weather and sea state (No Charge)

  • Not having minimum of 10 people booked (No Charge)

  • Circumstances beyond our control regarding crew and boat (No Charge)

WHAT IF I CANNOT MAKE THE TRIP?

You can log onto our website and alter the booking yourself online, either cancelling it or moving it to another time.

  • All alterations made to your booking prior to 48 hours of departure will not incur any costs.

  • Alterations between 48 and 24 hours prior to departure will incur an 80% cost (£56 per seat).

  • Alterations made less than 24 hours before time of departure will be charged in full.
